FEEL-GOOD FRIDAY: BRIDESMAIDS

I adore this movie. Whenever I need a laugh, this is where I turn. Anytime Melissa McCarthy is involved, I am IN. The movie follows the plot of the unfortunate Annie (played by Kristen Wiig). She has a crummy job, her love life is in shambles, and to top it all off, her best friend is getting married. That may seem like great news, but to Annie, it means losing her only real friend. Hilarity ensues as Annie and a group of misfit bridesmaids (including Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Ellie Kemper) try to survive and successfully plan a wedding for their friend.

WHY I LOVE THIS MOVIE:

I love this movie because it makes me laugh until my stomach hurts, but it also has some depth. My favorite part of the movie is after Annie has hit rock bottom and has started digging. Melissa McCarthy’s character gives her a pep-talk to end all pep-talks. By that point in the movie, Annie is feeling particularly sorry for herself, and Megan is having none of it:

This part of the movie was so powerful for me. It made me realize how many times I am guilty of throwing myself pity parties when I should instead be working on fixing my problems with a positive attitude. I am in ultimate control of my outlook on life. I decide the days I have. That is so liberating. After this sentimental moment, the movie returns to comedy with a vengence and creates a film that is really enjoyable. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who needs a laugh!

Love and light! Happy Weekend!
