SINGIN’ SATURDAYS: THE MUSIC MAN

I love the film adaption of the classic musical. It stars the wonderful Matthew Broderick as Harold Hill and the amaaaaazing Kristin Chenoweth as Marian. Victor Garber also stars as the Mayor of the town.

66024_3_29A - MEREDITH WILLSON'S THE MUSIC MAN -- Two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick, Tony Award-winner Kristin Chenoweth, Emmy and Tony Award-nominee Victor Garber, Emmy and Tony Award-winner Debra Monk, Emmy-nominee Molly Shannon and Broadway and film star David Aaron Baker headline a stellar cast in the blockbuster presentation of "Meredith Willson's The Music Man," a special three-hour made-for television movie airing on "The Wonderful World of Disney," SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16 (7:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/RAFY) KRISTIN CHENOWETH, MATTHEW BRODERICK

THE PLOT:

Harold Hill is a masterful con-artist who comes to a small, midwestern town in hopes of making the people there his next victimes. However, once there, Harold breaks the ONE RULE that all con-artists must follow and everything changes for him.

WHY I LOVE THIS MUSICAL:

The music is just soooooo good. It’s very classical. A lot of the songs remind me of a lullaby. Favorites that come to mind are “Will I Ever Tell You / Lida Rose” and “My White Knight.” A fun and upbeat one is “Marian the Librarian.”  It’s just so darn cute. It reminds me of my hometown. The cast is always steller. The incomparable Barbara Cook once portrayed Marian and she was flawless, of course. Chenoweth is always great. Matthew Broderick is really great in this one, too. It’s just a really fun and cute movie musical to enjoy on a lazy day.
